What is something you have been wanting to purchase, related to a hobby?
I’m not sure I would call this “related to a hobby”, but recently, videos featuring a podcasting kit – which includes a soundboard and microphones – have made their way through my TikTok algorithm.
When I was doing my podcast last year, it’s something I considered purchasing. I wasn’t really looking too heavily into it. But I do like the idea of being able to distort my voice a little bit if I’m podcasting, and being able to used multiple microphones or even a smartphone.
The set ups I’ve seen include a second microphone. They’re nothing super high-end, but it’s enough of an upgrade to get me to think about whether or not I want to expand more. I’m getting the itch to podcast again, I’m just having to look for some suitable content.
It’s not something I’m ready – or able – to invest a lot of money into right now. But I did buy a microphone last year when I started my podcast and I don’t really have a problem upgrading to better equipment if I get more into this hobby. Of course, if I’m able to get a small following for the podcast, that may be enough to persuade me to pursue it more seriously.
My big concern has been, as I mentioned before, finding a cohost – just someone I could talk to and interact with, and being sure that I have enough content to turn into episodes. I’ve proven that I can carry an episode of a podcast for 30 or even 60 minutes; but the back and forth banter would only enhance the show.
Of course, I need keep in mind the things that podcasters have been saying in their TikTok ads: “if you can talk about anything for an hour, you can have your own podcast“
