As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
Do you like Saturdays or Sundays better?
Seriously, how is this even a question? I like Saturdays infinitely more than I like Sundays.
Even as a young kid, I always felt a certain level of anxiety set in on Sundays, just because I knew Sunday meant going back to school the next day. I think that’s also part. The reason why I don’t like the NFL anywhere near as much as I enjoy baseball. My phone is associated baseball with summertime. I associate the NFL, not just with the fall and winter, but Sundays in particular.
Since I was a kid, Saturdays have been hardwired into my psyche as the day that is 100% mine. Yes, for several years, I worked Saturdays, whether it was part-time jobs or assessing the old man with videotaping weddings. But it’s just something different about a Saturday. Going to bed on Friday night, knowing that you’re going to wake up and it will be Saturday. Even going to bed on Saturday night. As much as I don’t like Sundays, it’s still better than Monday.
Of course, as you get older, Saturdays aren’t so much about fun as they are getting done all the random things you have been putting off all week. You can keep the trips to The Home Depot. Just give me back my Saturday morning cartoons
Sunday always comes too late
There is a lot to be said about the more relaxed, kind of laid-back atmosphere on a Sunday. I don’t know if they still do it, but a lot of my local radio stations used to play more mellow music on Sunday mornings. I know a lot of stations used to capitalize on the whole “Sunday morning brunch” format. It added to the overall more mellow vibe of Sunday mornings.
During my senior year of high school and during my first couple years of cheer college, I worked at a local Arby’s. It was nice because it was located in my local shopping mall and didn’t have typical fast food hours of operation. On the weekends, I would go into the store before the other employees and tend to some custodial duties, cleaning, throwing roast in the oven first thing in the morning, etc. It was nice because I would get out of work around 11 AM. I always associated that with Getting a late breakfast on Sunday mornings. , Even though I did work, those mornings, there was still a much more relaxed tempo to the day.
