Rob’s Men’s 2025 March Madness bracket. Sweet 16 -Day 1

This is the part where my bracket really starts to fall apart. But just like the captain of the Titanic, I’m gonna ride the sinking ship to the bottom of the ocean. At this point, this is just an exercise in the futility of trying to successfully pick an entire NCAA national championship.

Let’s take a look at what’s left with my bracket:

✔️ is a win. X is a loss. A circled X is the game that I had neither team still in the tournament.

I’ve now reached the point where I incorrectly picked enough games that I don’t even have enough of the sweet 16 teams to make correct predictions in some of the remaining match-ups.

Some websites are having “second chance“ March madness contests – contestants are able to essentially reset their brackets from the remaining 16 teams. Such is the unpredictable nature of March madness. still, I believe in the owner system: one bracket for every armchair coach.

There’s a brief recap of Thursday’s action:

  • #1 seed Florida beat #4 seed Maryland Thursday night. I didn’t even have Maryland making this game. In fact, I had Memphis beating Maryland in the round of 32, beating Florida and and advancing on to the elite eight. Bracket busted
  • #2 seed Alabama defeated #6 seed BYU. I had Wisconsin defeating BYU in the round of 32, beating Alabama and advancing to the sweet 16 and actually advancing onto the elite eight. I was way off work on this one as well.
  • #1 seed Duke beat #4 seed Arizona. My bracket had Liberty defeating Arizona in the round of 32. However, I still had Duke not only advancing to the sweet 16, but ultimately winning the national championship. Again, a win is still a win
  • Finally #3 seed Texas Tech narrowly defeated #10 seed Arkansas – holding off on what would have been the biggest upset of the night. I had neither team advancing to the sweet 16 so my bracket is definitely busted here.

1-3 for Thursday’s sweet 16 action. I’m surprised I still have a proverbial dog in this fight to be honest. Duke is the sole survivor from my original bracket in Thursday’s games.
