I stumbled across this article tonight, and it caught my attention:
It Takes 8 Years to Fully Get Over Your Ex, According to Science
This article, which links to a study first published in psychology today, suggest that people do eventually get over their exes. However, in some cases, it does take up to eight years to completely get over a long-term relationship.
The article also states that according to the findings, it takes people a little over four years to be “halfway over” an ex. I’m not really sure how one can be halfway over a person. Does this mean, that you miss them, but don’t “miss them” miss them? It’s a little unclear.
One thing I noticed that the article doesn’t really take into account is people who are in relationships where they have already lost feelings for the other person. I think in some cases that does make the eventual end of the relationship a little bit easier, once you’ve already emotionally disconnected from your significant other.
For those of us who are, or have been, or eventually will be stuck on an ex, this gives hope!
