I’m scared

Over the last few days, I’ve been hearing more talk about the tariff President Trump is put on silver foreign countries, countries who send much of the products that we use here in the United States every single day.

There are rumors that have been going around on social media that the ports in Seattle are empty. This FOX 13 Seattle article seems to contradict that rumor. However, this CNN article reports that the last cargo ships from China without Trump‘s massive tariffs applied are already on their way to the United States.

It’s being said that retailers are in America will have about three weeks worth of supplies, and then everything will most likely double. Other sources are saying that we won’t see price increases until the 2025 holiday season.

Whether you believe TikTok or if you believe CNN, price increases are coming as a result of the tariffs. Here’s a problem with that: I can guarantee you that businesses are not going to increase salaries to compensate for the increased cost of goods

Even if Trump decided to back down in eliminate the new tariffs altogether, other countries have already started brokering deals with countries other than the United States. As others have said, the rest of the world is moving on from the United States.

I know that Trump claims he’s trying to and add these terrorist in order to jumpstart manufacturing here in America once again. The problem with this approach is that it would take several months or even a few years to get a factories built and properly staffed in order to serve the country. as it is, I think most businesses are reluctant to start building factories here in America because they don’t know how long Trump economic policy will even be in effect.

POTUS didn’t pay attention to this lecture either…

The United States is very much a consumer based economy. We buy stuff that other people make. We buy it for cheap. The whole reason that American businesses don’t build things here in the states is because they would be much more expensive than they already are.

It’s also important to remember that the last time a Republican president introduced tariffs anywhere near this drastic, Republican lost control of Congress for the next 50 years.

I remember reading an anecdote in a history book – I think I was in either junior high high school at the time. I talked about how in the old Soviet Union, people would keep the windshield wiper blades for their cars inside their glove boxes. The reason for this is that windshield wiper blades were not included with the purchase of a car. As a result, people would often steal them if one would just leave them attached to their windshield wipers.

This is exactly the kind of thing I see happening here in America. No, maybe it won’t be windshield wiper blades, but it will be something similar. Something that we take for granted today and I have probably taken for granted for the last several decades.

Maybe I’m dooming & glooming everything; but I’m just trying to brace myself for the worst. I’m no economist, but even I can recognize that things are probably going to get worse in this country before they get better.

It’s incredible how the US seems to be imploding because of Trumps policies. I really hope it doesn’t happen, but his policies are catastrophic. We had a similar situation here in the UK when a conservative Prime Minister Liz Truss crashed our markets with idiotic policies and had to resign.

Unfortunately, for us here in the states, it seems like your Parliamentary system makes it a lot easier to vote leaders out of power than we can do under
      our system here.

But yes, he really has a way of destroying everything he touches, doesn’t he?
