Today’s the big day. I’m sitting here on Friday morning hanging out this entry knowing that this evening, Kid 1 is going to graduate from high school!
As a parent, it is a softy, it is a little bit emotionally, overwhelming. It’s the combination of his entire academic career, thus far, and pretty much his life. If you really think about it, graduating from high school is the biggest day in the life of a young person. Even sitting here thinking about it today, I’m choking back tears as “Pomp and circumstance” is already running through my head
I was talking to kid too a little bit about it yesterday as we were driving down. It had occurred to me that this may be one of my very last obligatory trips to South Carolina. Both X 1 and kid one have talked about leaving the state wants kid one graduated from high school. As it stands now, kid one will be attending school in Wisconsin this fall.
So, in a lot of ways, today is more than just the combination of Kid 1’s academic career. In many respects, it might be the end of my “South Carolina era“ altogether.
I’m sure they’ll have a lot more to say, once I’ve had a chance to reflect on today’s events
