Things that put a smile on my face

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

What has made you genuinely smile recently?

Without a doubt, the biggest thing in this recently was the news that kid one was getting a near full academic scholarship to the university of Wisconsin. As I read about previously, he got word of this the night of his 18th birthday.

The truth is, I couldn’t possibly be prouder of him. Of course, he has made other achievements throughout his life: when he swam, when he was in gymnastics. He’s also done other stuff academically, like making the National Honor Society. But getting a near-full academic scholarship was culmination of all the hard work he has put over the years.

I smiled, literally, for three days. To say that this new made my life a lot easier for the nest few years is a colossal understatement.

However, as I was sitting at the commence ceremony Friday night, I felt that this a

But this is the most recent example of something that made me not only smile, but made me smile despite everything else going on in my life and in the world in general.

Another thing – or person in this case – that makes me smile is Veronica. I’ve been happy with the way things have going between her and I. A couple weeks, i initiated the where do we stand” discussion. She stopped short of saying she wanted to date exclusively. She said she’s enjoying “us” and wants to “see where things go”. I almost said that i wanted to see her exclusively, but decided not to push the matter.

The truth is, I can’t complain. I wanted to keep things casual with her for several months. It’s not her fault she ended being the last woman standing after another round of “Trio Survivor”. I guess now that causal has been our status quo for the last several months, it’s to be expected. Seriously, am I having to convince myself that a casual relationship is a good thing?!
