As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
Would you rather explosively sneeze every time someone says “hi” to you, or every time someone says “thank you” to you?
With all due respect to the work of Lionel Richie…
With that said, if I had to suffer from an affliction such as explosive sneezing and I had to chose when it would happen between these 2 options, I would opt for the latter.
Sneezing explosively when someone says “hi”would most like end most social interactions before they even begin. I’m of the opinion that first impressions are crucial. A lot of people, I believe, would immediately bail after such an awkward introduction.
Of course, such a prompt also warrants the question of accuracy. Would it have to be, literally “hello”. That triggers the sneeze? What if someone approaches and says hey, hi or “how’s it going?” If “hello” is a trigger trigger, it would force most personal phone conversations to immediately go south. What if the person in the other end assumes you don’t hear them and repeats “hello”?
Explosive sneezes triggered by the “thank you” platitude would be much easier to avoid. If nothing else, they would not reveal themselves until much further into a conversation. If nothing else, one would. be able to warn people of their response to “thank you”.
Again, however, this begs the question of specificity. Would “thanks” “much obliged” or something even a little more hip, like “props” trigger the sneeze as well?
Still, I would much rather have explosive sneezes triggered by “thank you” than “hi”.
