As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
What makes you hopeful about the future?
Kid 2 and I saw Superman again this past Friday. And while I already wrote a review on the movie HERE, the movie is resonating with me, on a level that I didn’t expect and wasn’t prepared for.
But I think the same can be said about an awful lot of people who continue to post about the movie on social media. Superman is not the greatest superhero movie ever made, but I think it’s over-arching theme of Hope is something that Americans (at least) have been desperate for for the last several months, if not years.
Right now, the renewed sense of optimism and hope that I’m seeing, particularly through people having seen the Superman movie gives me hope for the future. The movie hasn’t even been out for two weeks, but already it seems to be something of the cultural touchstone for people.
I wrote before about how this really is not a fun time in the United States. Especially if you’re a person of color. But I keep reminding myself that there will be another election in two years and then two years after that we will elect a new president. I keep having to believe that things are going to work out for everybody.
