When I first started, this streak, I never had any intention of writing every single day. At this point, I had seen the “daily prompts” that WordPress generated previously. I answered a few of them; but typically, I decided to write about something I’ve seen on the Internet or something based on my own every day experiences.
But once I started responding to the daily prompt, I saw an uptick in my traffic. it wasn’t anything big, but it was enough to get my attention as a casual, aspiring blogger. I remember thinking “if I’m getting more views today, maybe I should respond to tomorrow’s prompt as well”. So I did. And I saw my numbers continue to grow.
Eventually, the streak took on a life of its own “I wrote yesterday. I have to write today, and be sure to write tomorrow“. Then I eventually started wondering “what if I blocked every day for an entire year? I wonder if I would see my writing evolve over that span of time”.
I broke through one year and decided that I wanted to continue. At that point I started wondering if I could log every day for two years. I’m just about one month shy of that now. Yes, some of my posts have been better than others. Some have gotten more traffic than others. I must admit that I still don’t know the first thing about trending topics or keywords for search engines, but I try.
Right now, I’m hoping to make it to 730 consecutive days, or two years and really take a look back at that point. But right now, I’m kind of feeling like Cal Ripken Jr. I have no intention of ending this streak  anytime soon.
