Rob Reacts: I am serious about finding the love of my life’: Woman uses billboards to find love

Perusing the Interwebs on Saturday, I came across a story out of Silicon Valley. Apparently this woman has not only constructed a website, but also taken to Highway billboard advertising to sell herself as a potential future wife

wow. There’s a few things to unpack here.

Believe me, I understand how hard it is to find people to date in this day and age. The craziest thing about social media and online dating is that well the Internet has made us more connected than ever, in many ways it has made many of us more private than we’ve ever been before

I look at this woman. She’s fairly attractive. I mean, she’s not ugly or anything. She’s not necessarily a model, but she most certainly isn’t some carnival freak. Also, I think about the fact that she started this as a joke, constructing her own website. Given that and the fact that she’s in Silicon Valley, I’m assuming she must be fairly tech savvy, which leads itself to the fact that she’s buying highway billboard space in Silicon Valley. Doing anything in Silicon Valley has to be expensive. So I can only assume that she makes a decent amount of money.

But this is what some of us are reduced to? Is it really this hard to find a partner? And if so, is going to such lengths really worth finding a partner? Do the ends justify the means?

Keep in mind, I say this as someone who’s been divorced for 13 years and he has been out of a second long-term relationship for almost 5 1/2 years. I’ve hit a point in my life where I think I’ve learned how to be happy being by myself. Maybe in some sense the whole idea of being in or even wanting to be in a romantic relationship has passed me by.

This is not a “woe is me” complaint. the fact is, I’m not miserable if I don’t have plans to see Veronica, or anyone else on a week at night. I don’t get depressed at the thought of not having a romantic partner during the holidays. In fact, I’ve been kind of relieved that I haven’t for the last several years, if anything.

Just to save you, my loyal readers, the hassle, I went ahead and checked out her website. As graphic design goes, the website is well laid out. Lisa presents herself well. Her photos look as if they were taken professionally. She’s obviously invested some money on this – if nothing else just for the fact that she got herself a domain name.
