Pay day!

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

What excites you about this week?

Interestingly, enough, today’s prompt happens to fall on a Sunday. Maybe it was designed that way…

What I’m excited about this week is getting paid. I’m a little short on cash, especially since I made an impromptu trip just now out to see kid two in Madison Wisconsin.

I think it went pretty well. And I think he needed to see me. He’s doing OK I would say, for an 18-year-old who was just four months removed from high school. But it sounds like he’s kind of bat himself into his everyday routine and because he doesn’t have a car on campus, he hasn’t really gone very far. For him, it sounds a lot like he’s living out the movie Groundhog Day work, hope work, school, wash rinse repeat.

But I was happy that I was able to get out there this weekend to see him. I think he needed to see either me or his mom. He seemed genuinely appreciative and I think getting him off campus for like 36 hours or so wasn’t enough to help and recalibrate a little bit.

But because of that trip, I’ve just about depleted my funds until payday. That I may have borrowed money just to go on this trip. But the nice thing is that I will be able to repay that debt up upon getting paid this Wednesday.

I’m on the road as I voice dictate this post right now. I left a little bit later than I wanted to today so my drive that’s normally seven hours. Also has to take to account the fact that I’m crossing back into the eastern time zone. That means I’m adding another hour onto my trip. On top of that, is the fact that I do have to stop pretty frequently to either stretch my legs go to the bathroom or get some food so I generally give myself about another hour for the drive. unfortunately tonight I did run into some unforeseen traffic either because of construction or car accidents. And one case both. So I’ll be getting in a little bit later than I planned on which I mean a short night sleep before I go back to work tomorrow morning myself.

But the truth is, my job really isn’t that difficult right now. My students are working exclusively online, so I’m there to provide support. However, this school year, our tenant has been very late, so classes have been small every hour. It gives me a lot of downtime, which will probably be nice tomorrow.

And while I’m grateful to have a relatively late workload this year, I must say that the job is starting to bore me. Not teaching in general; but rather teaching at my school. I want to get back into a traditional teacher lead classroom where I can actually teach lessons again and have more to roll on my students education

Thank you for being a teacher.

I hope your trip was safe. Madison is a beautiful city. My nephew just started at UW there. I’m very proud of him.

Best wishes to you and your family.

      Thank you!

Yeah Madison is really nice. My son just started this fall too. He grew up inSouth Carolina and while he’s looking forward to the Snow, he’s not ready for it! 😝

Oh yeah? What major? My nephew is going for History.

I’ll be 40 soon enough and I’ve lived in Wisconsin all of my life. It would be dishonest if I claimed to ever have been ready for snow. 😝 My mentality is that it’s best left for post cards.

He’s going into nuclear engineering. I grew up in Michigan (and moved back) and I cannot stand the snow!
