I must admit that I’ve been following this unfolding saga of Marjorie Taylor Green with some grotesque fascination; the likes of which I haven’t experienced since Nikki Haley ran for President last fall.
Last night, in case you haven’t heard, Marjorie Taylor Greene announced that she will be resigning from the United States House of Representatives in January 2026. There’s already some speculation as to whether or not she’s looking to seek higher office herself; maybe even running for President in 2028.
But the saga of MTG should serve as a cautionary tale to other Trump supporters or “MAGA” as they call themselves:
Donald Trump will turn on anyone, even his staunchest allies
In case you haven’t noticed from some of my other blog posts, I am not a Donald Trump supporter, in fact, I’ve never voted for Republican in my life. So it’s really hard for me to feel sorry for Marjorie Taylor Greene right now. She spent five years spewing tons of vitriol at Democrats – and anyone else who wouldn’t vote for Trump for that matter. During that time she never feared for her life once. And now, just five days after she really begins to speak out against Donald Trump, she feels that her life is threatened, so much so that she has hired additional security and shows them to resign from the House. If this doesn’t tell you all you need to know about which side of the aisle is sowing the most dissent, I don’t know what else to say.
Nevertheless, she is a human being, and I have to at least give her the benefit of the doubt. If she truly has seen the error in her ways, as she showed a lot of contrition during her recent CNN interview, then I’m curious to see where her political career goes from here.
