Casting Call: The Audacity of the Leading Man

As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today

This is about as close as I will come to revealing what I actually look like on this blog. You’ve been warned.

What actor would you hire to play you in a movie biography?

If I were able to hire an actor to play me in a movie about my life, I would hire Jason Sudeikis.

The Doppelgänger on the Street

Before I really even knew who Jason Sudeikis was, I would have people—strangers—literally stop me on the street and tell me that I looked just like him. I guess it was kind of flattering, being told you look like a movie star. In hindsight, I wonder if some of those comments were potential opening pickup lines by women. If they were, I was too dense to pick up what they were putting down, but I digress.

The Blog as a Screenplay

I’m not talking about Sudeikis as he appears as the titular character on Ted Lasso. I’m talking about the younger Jason Sudeikis. Interestingly, X2 once toyed with the idea of making a movie or a series based on the early days of my blog—specifically my experiences as a guy going through a divorce. That idea has never really left my head. If there were a movie, I’d want it to be based on the stories I’ve told here: the grit of the Road to 1,000 Days and the reality of the “extra innings.”

Integrity in the “Tween Years”

I may have a fuller face now and a bit more gray, but the part in my hair is still on the same side. Beyond the physical, I relate to the characters he plays who are often underestimated—like the dart-throwing underdog with a heart of gold. It mirrors that “Tricorder” perspective of using modern tools to navigate a deeply personal journey toward the horizon.

A Sneak Peek at Tomorrow: Rebuilding Rob – Episode 4

Before I wrap up today’s post, I wanted to give you a heads-up: tomorrow morning, a brand-new episode of Rebuilding Rob: The Podcast drops. This one is personal. We’re diving into ‘Bugs and Boundaries.’ I’m taking you back to the ‘social Darwinism’ of my junior high hallways and the moment I realized my ‘Nice Guy’ software was officially obsolete. We’ll talk about the ‘Optimus Prime’ standard of strength, the lessons I learned in an inner-city classroom, and why ‘Option C’ is the only way to stop being a polite passenger on a sinking ship.

If you’ve ever felt like you were disappearing into the woodwork or staying quiet just to keep the peace, this episode is for you. See you tomorrow for the premiere of Episode 4.
