“…When a Man loves a woman who doesn’t love him“

Personally, I’m already sick to death of “Slapgate“; but I stumbled across an article in which comedian Earthquake (I’ve never heard of him either) talks about Will Smith and brings up a few interesting points that I think seemed relevant to this blog.

Earthquake is spot on when he says that Will Smith loves Jada Pinkett Smith, but she does not love him. However, I think that Earthquake really misses the point when he says that Jada should have “defended her man” or issued a public statement in his support. It’s not that Jada shouldn’t support her husband, or say something in his defense. She should. The problem is, as Earthquake stated, Will loves Jada, and she doesn’t love him.

I know. I know. These people are celebrities and we don’t really know what goes on behind closed doors. All we see is what appears on camera and we only hear about what appears in print. We don’t really know them. This is all true.

However, in the last 5 to 10 years in particular. Jada Pinkett-Smith seems to go out of her way to command or demand headlines – presumably to keep herself relevant. I won’t go into detail about her headline-chasing shenanigans; but if this is what I perceive as an everyday pop culture junkie, one can only imagine what goes in behind closed doors.

Jada Pinkett Smith as a classic narcissist. Will Smith is a victim of narcissism. Perhaps a victim of his own creation, but a victim nonetheless.

Although I disliked Will Smith before it was cool, I do feel a lot of sympathy for “big Willie style“. I too, know what it’s like to be in a relationship with a woman who doesn’t love me; or at least to be in a relationship with a woman who fell out of love with me. Many men do. A polite way to describe The Fresh Prince would be to say that he has been emasculated. A more direct was to describe Agent J would be to say that he’s p***y whipped. He’s doing everything he can (and some he shouldn’t be doing) to make her happy. None of it will ever make a damn bit of difference. She doesn’t love him. She hasn’t for a long time. Maybe she never really did.

The sickest parts of all this are that his wife is aware of all of this. She knows what she should do in order to create damage control and salvage her husband’s career. But she doesn’t. She hasn’t uttered a syllable or typed a single character in her husband’s defense. And she won’t. She has no intention of doing that because SHE DOESNT CARE. She loves a good train wreck, and Slapgate may be the coup de grace. To add insult to injury for Captain James West, the whole world is seeing this sorry excuse for a marriage degrade before our very eyes.

Jada Pinkett Smith as a classic narcissist. Will Smith is a victim of narcissism. Perhaps a victim of his own creation, but a victim nonetheless. As a victim of narcissistic personality disorder myself, I sincerely hope that Hitch wakes up one day and gets himself off this merry-go-round for good.

UPDATE: literally, as I am proofreading this post, I saw this story on today’s New York Post. The merry-go-round is still spinning…
