How sad is it that I have to really think about the last time I did something just for fun?
Currently, I write this blog for fun. I don’t make any money off of it. It’s not my job. I wrote because I love to do it.
But as far as pure, unadulterated playing is concerned, it would probably be something I did with Kid 2. During the colder months, I’ll usually take him to indoor play grounds, the trampoline park, things like that.
Play is not just about having fun but about taking risks, experimenting, and testing boundaries.

One of the things about having my kids a little bit later in life is that I feel like they keep me young. Yes, they keep me on my toes, but it’s more than that. The boys help me to keep a more youthful mindset, I think. I’m sure I would have been a little more spry if I had my kids in my 20s, but I have zero regrets about having my kids at the ages I did.
Of course, when I’m pushing 60 and Kid 2 is getting ready to graduate high school, that may be a different story.
“I am acting my age. I’m in the prime of my youth and I’ll only be young once.”
“Yeah, but you’re gonna be stupid for the rest of your life.”

What was the last thing you did for play for fun?
