A Business Idea That’s Long Overdue

Come up with a crazy business idea.

Many years ago, there was a student at Yale named Fred. He was in a class where students had to write a term paper about a business they wanted to create.

Fred had this idea for a new business kicking around in his head, so he submitted it as his proposal. His professor gave him a “C” for the assignment and said that while a rapid delivery system would beneficial, he didn’t think it would be economically feasible on a national, let alone a global, level. A few years later, Fred decided to give this C-graded business proposal a try.

Today, we know that company as FedEx.

I think Fred did okay.

I mention this story because sometimes the craziest business ideas, or the one that don’t appear to be economically feasible are the most successful. It all goes back to taking chances in believing in yourself. It’s cliché, but sometimes the greatest risk in life is the one you don’t take.

Achieving a goal starts with a vision.

The timing on this prompt is serendipitous for me. Right now, I’m talking to my students about goal setting, and how important it is to have a vision of a goal in order to achieve it.

For my crazy business idea, would create an app that filters out really lame writing prompts and replaces them with prompts that are relevant, thought- provoking and occasionally humorous.

I joke, of course, only because I don’t have anything particularly creative to suggest as a business idea. In fact, most of these daily prompts have been quite thought-provoking for me. I’m just not feeling too clever this morning. To be honest, I’ve been focused on my blueprint for 2024 that I haven’t looked much beyond that.

What is your crazy business idea?
