Rebuilding Rob

Wow, this is one I almost don’t even like to think about, out of fear of getting too caught up in the fantasy. As they say that, statistically, the odds of you getting struck by lightning, twice – and surviving – are better than the odds of winning the lottery, I just don’t like going down this proverbial rabbit hole.

This first thing I would do if I won the lottery would be to pay off all my bills. I know, that doesn’t sound like fun; but for those of us living in the real world, it would be a game changer. As Forrest Gump would say, it is “one less thing to worry about”.

After that, I would set aside a sizable chunk of what’s left for my sons. I’d like to make guaranteed-money high-interest investment where there could essentially live off their interest.

Next, I would want to give a decent amount of money to charity. Some really good cost like national public radio, or PBS here in the states. Or even Habitat for Humanity, or the American Cancer Society; the ASPCA. Hell, maybe ALL of them! I don’t need to get my picture in the newspaper. I don’t need it to blow up on social media. I would just love to do something game changing for somebody, even if it’s an organization who is so unprepared for the donation that they don’t know what they’re going to do with it.

I would travel. There’s probably about 100 places I could list off the top of my head that I want to see in this world.

I’m going to stop here, because I’m getting a little caught up in the fantasy now

But I do know this from watching the old series VH1 Behind The Music: if I won the lottery, EVERY last person I have ever known in my life would suddenly reach out and contact me. I honestly would not want to deal with that.
