I lose myself inside of Major League Baseball stadiums. I know I’ve talked, probably ad nauseam, about how much I enjoy attending major-league baseball games.
I’ve always enjoyed the game of baseball, for all the reasons you always hear all the Romantics opine about. It’s pastoral, it reminds me of my past, the tradition. I know that it reminds me of my youth, going to games with The Old Man, good times. What’s more, I’m able to share the game with my sons now as well. I know they don’t live at the same way that I do, but it is something that we do together.
But there’s something more to being inside of a major league baseball stadium. Major league ballparks are my sanctuary. I don’t know if it’s the game itself, or just being inside the four walls of a baseball stadium, then I’m able to forget about the outside world and any problems I’m dealing with, even if just only a few hours.
I know the games are getting more expensive to attend, but the truth is baseball games are still the cheapest of the four major North American sports to attend. I’d like the games that I attended this past summer in Pittsburgh and Chicago, the trip that kid two and I already have planned to Cincinnati is one of those times in life you just have to bite the bullet and splurge in order to live in the moment.
That’s right, I will be posting a review of Cincinnati’s Great American Ballpark after Kid 2 and I attend a Tigers/Reds game this July.
