With June being men’s mental health awareness month, in addition to pride month, I thought it was only timely that I repost this article from one year ago today in which I talk about my own issues with mental health
I guess things are a bit better than they were a year ago this time. My work situation is a little bit more secure, as I started this past school year in my local school district. Now I know that I will be back in the same school at the same position for next school year as well.
Money, is always a little bit of a stressor for me, but I feel like I have a situation more under control maybe than I did one year ago. In the very least, I know I have some options as far as getting some money together. Of course, as I say that about money, I realize that I’m going to have more expenses than ever as Kid 1 is entering his senior year in high school this fall. I don’t even want to think about trying to pay for his college education.
I see so many posts on social media about men’s mental health; not just during this month but all year long. There is a consensus site for the most part, most people really don’t give a shit about men’s mental health.
I’m still grappling with the question of how to bring up my own insecurities with a potential romantic partner of the opposite sex. Many guys have posted online, I’ve noticed too much in my life, that I do open up to partner, they ultimately use my insecurities against me in an argument.
Women to open up and emotional, but the truth is, like Jack Nicholson says, in A Few Good Men, “you can’t handle the truth!“. Women don’t want to know what their male partners are dealing with. Such knowledge would, quite frankly, destroy their world; at least destroy the bit of peace that they have in their own home.
Some guys online suggest “getting together your own tribe“ of men that you can confide in. So far, that hasn’t really worked for me either. So like so many other men, I just carry a lot of my stuff around myself.
