Happy holidays to all. And to those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas.
Today is Christmas Day and all the hours , days, weeks and in some cases, months, of preparation are all about to pay off. With days like this, one can prepare all they want; but ultimately the day will take on a life of its own.
Christmas Day is, historically a much slower paced day, once the excitement of Christmas morning wears off.
As a parent during the holidays I think I did pretty good this year. I am so incredibly fortunate to spend the holidays with both kid 1 and Kid 2. I know this won’t be the case next year. but most of all, I am so far-beyond-blessed that I have the means to provide a great Christmas for them both.
For me, the big make-it-or-break-it moment was when kids were still engaged with their presents even after they opened everything. I’m happy to say that they were. Kid 1 was busy setting up his new Bluetooth speaker. Kid 2 was busy playing with his new toys.
Now that the rush of the holiday has passed, I can feel my body relaxing- and I am exhausted! But my visit with the boys is not over yet. We have one more full day together. Then Friday, we hit the road. In the meantime, I’m gonna take a deep breath, and allow myself to channel Clark Griswold at the end of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation when he simply said “I did it “.
