I have to admit. Iβve always wanted to title a blog entry with emojis
As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
Do you think using emojis contribute to text conversations?
In a word, yes. I think that emojis do add to conversations; but only to online or text conversations. Although I use them now, I donβt ever want to see emojis become a part of our actual written language.
I used to hate emojis. I still think there were so juvenile. I used to see grown adults using emojis and I laugh laughed at them for acting like children. But the truth is, Iβve taken to using emojis myself. Heck, one needs to look no further than the very last paragraph that I always end my blog posts with to see where I have since incorporated the βlikeβ emoji.
I think that the snooty, hoity-toity English teacher part of me looks at emojis as the destruction of our written language. But the truth is, emojis do a good job of capturing a mood or emotions sometimes. οΏΌ
Context is kingοΏΌ
Admit it, weβve all been a situation where we said something in an email or any text message or even on a social media post that was taken the wrong way. Sometimes, may type something trying to be very serious, and itβs taken as a joke. However, I think more mistakes in context are made in the latter situation than the former.
Having said all this, I still think The Emoji Movie was just too much. But at least they had a good enough sense of humor to cast Sir Patrick Stewart as the π©
