As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
Would you rather be bored or be too busy?
I can’t say that I’ve ever been truly, mind-numbing bored before; so I don’t know whether I would enjoy it or not.
However, I can say that I have been too busy more times than I can count. I know that when I am too busy, I start to spread myself a little bit thin, trying to get too many things done in too little time. Furthermore, when I feel overwhelmed, if I have too much to do, I simply shut down. When that happens, I don’t get anything done.
A society that celebrates exhaustion
The problem was 21st century modern American Society is that we’re expected to do too many things in far too little time. “Do this. Do that, get this other thing done five minutes ago. Bigger. Better. Faster. More.” in many regards, I think that this society is designed to completely break us down. And for some grotesque reason, we pretend act like running ourselves ragged is some badge of honor.
Go with the flow
Most people who know me tell me that I have a “go with the flow” kind of personality. That is how I try to live by life. But those same people are usually shocked to learn that I struggle at times with anxiety. I think it’s because I do get so anxious about certain things that I try to “go with the flow” as much as I can in life.
I bring this up because life does have its ebbs and flows. There are times when we are bored, and – more often than not it seems – there are times when we have way too much to do. But if you asked me, today, if I would rather be too bored or too busy, I would choose boredom.
