Rob Reacts: The US Bombs 3 Nuclear facilities in Iran

It’s about 9:30 PM Eastern time on Saturday night. I got an alert on my phone roughly an hour ago from the New York Times said that the United States has bombed three nuclear manufacturing sites in Iran.

There hasn’t been any word on any kind of retaliation yet, but this news is disturbing for several reasons:

Although I don’t believe a word that the guy says, but Donald Trump ran his campaign on the idea of “no more wars”. And yet, he may very well be dragging the United States into a war in the Middle East.

I ran has promised that if any US military action took place against them, they would attack US military basis in the Persian Gulf region.

I know that the issue would stay here is destroying Iran’s ability to produce nuclear weapons. I also know that the previously was a deal in place with Iran, under President Obama, that did and would have continued to prevent I ran from treating nuclear weapons.

And, as i said yesterday HERE, I don’t care. I want to see regime change in Iraq, but I also want to see peace in the Middle East. I don’t think one can get peace by attacking their potential enemies.

I’m sure we’ll all be hearing a lot more about this in the days ahead.

    First, I am ANYTHING BUT a fan of Trump.  HOWEVER…

    First, it was his 2016 campaign that had “No More Wars” as a campaign promise.  That was primarily about getting us out of the endless war in Iraq.  When our troops were only there for target practice and forbidden to even fight back at times, I wholeheartedly support that particular decision.  Even the worst bad guy occasionally does something right.

    Now Iran.  This is a regime that has been screaming since 1979 that it’s foremost goal is wiping Isreal and the U.S. off of the map.  It’s been bankrolling terrorists and fighting a proxy war to that end for 46 years.  I think at this point, we can probably take them seriously regarding their goal.  For what it’s worth, I’m talking the government of Iran also.  Despite being brainwashed for 46 years by state-run media, I believe the general population of Iran is largely full of good people, like any other country.

    The nuclear treaty that Obama and the E.U. signed with Iran.  Probably the only piece of appeasement worse than Nevill Chamberlin’s treaty with Hitler.  It was a coward’s way to kick the problem down the road and make them feel good about themselves.  Iran is swimming in oil.  They live in an environment that is beyond ideal for solar power and many areas of the country are ideal for wind as well.  Yet despite the repeated stories about Iran still working to produce weapons grade uranium, we’re supposed to believe they have peaceful intentions and actually NEED nuclear power to keep the country running.

      I have NO LOVE for Iran’s current regime. The Islamic Revolution took women of the region and threw them back into the 12th century. A regime change is LONG overdue.

      My problem with this current situation is that it’s the same song and dance for the US in the Middle East. We just have different dance partners this time.

        OK, now that my keyboard is dried out and working again… LOL. Sometimes water is evil. 😛

        In general, or to a degree, I agree with you.  The current regime would likely not be in power if the U.S. had reined in the Shaw’s heavy handed police state (depending upon how much you believe that he was exclusively targeting religious extremists), OR if we hadn’t put him in power in the first place. 

        Too much of our foreign policy is run by corporations, esp. defense contractor and oil companies.  Eisenhower was right, and when a former 5 star general was saying that, we should have listened.

        None the less, Isreal has been under constant attack from terrorists and Islamic nations since it was reborn.  Homes, businesses, all buildings there are required to be built with bomb shelters that include nuclear, chemical and biological protection.  Name one other country on Earth where that’s needed.  The spin put out by the terrorists is shameless too.  Turn hospitals into military bases and scream human rights violations when Isreal is forced to attack.  The total population of the Middle East is 508 million.  10 million of that is Isreal’s population.  So we have a group of 498 million people, most of whom are armed, complaining that they’re bullied by group 50 times smaller than them.

        I won’t even recap how Iran has no interest in nuclear technology for peaceful use.  Just because we’ve done the wrong things, or done them half-assed doesn’t mean we should do nothing now.  It does mean that we should make sure we’re doing it the right way this time however.  Oversight, no lives thrown away, and taking a firm stand without resorting to genocide or butchery.

        I agree that we shouldn’t “not do anything“ as well. But at this point, I don’t even know what the right course of action is. I don’t know if there is a course of action that would be “right“ that wouldn’t result in a lot of bloodshed.

        Like so many other things in the Middle East, it is an incredibly intricate situation with many different moving parts

        True, but sometimes foot dragging can result in alot more bloodshed. Just ask Nevill Chamberlain. At any rate, nothing good will come of Iran getting any sort of nuclear capability.

        Personally? It’s not our dog in the fight. Or, rather, it wasn’t until Trump put one there. I’m no political pundit, but let’s face it, when we start throwing ourselves at another country like this, they are sure to start throwing things back at us. Not good.

    Hopefully the conflict between the two countries will be resolved quickly, so that the world economy returns to normal.
