Road to 1,000 Days: The Home Stretch

Special thanks to just rojie for today’s writing prompt.

What’s something you’re looking forward to next month?

Truth be told, I don’t have a ton on tap yet for next month. In about a week-and-a-half, kid 2 will be moving out of his dorm for the summer. I’ll be making the trip out to Madison to help him pack up. i’m not really sure yet if I’m gonna store some other stuff in Chicago, as his roommate lives there and they will be moving into a house next fall.

The Madison Trek

I’m looking forward to the trip out to Madison. I don’t know if I’m gonna try to get a Brewer game in or not before getting back to Michigan.

I’m glad to be there and I’m glad to help him get his stuff packed up, but it almost feels a little redundant with me going out there. If he was coming to Michigan for the summer that might be different. Or if I was driving him down to South Carolina for the summer that would be different. And I’m not saying this to sound like I don’t want to be supportive. I do want to be there. But the logic of driving seven hours each way to help him pack for what will probably essentially be three or four hours – if that – does seem a little bit suspect at best.

Navigating the “Tween Years”

The bigger problem right now so I’ve gotta try to help him finances some courses. He may have to just take out a private loan for himself. That’s part of the reason that I was looking into my situation with my student loans, which I talked about HERE yesterday.

Beyond one more trip to Madison for the school year, I don’t have much else on tap this month. I’m looking forward to the end of my ow school year. Seniors should be done the 21st.

The 1,000-Day Horizon

But beyond Kid 1 going back to SC, the biggest thing I have coming this month is the 31st. That will be my 1000th consecutive day of blogging. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but sometimes I’m amazed that I didn’t miss a single day. birthdays, holidays, vacations, road trips, work, sickness, and health, I wrote through all of it. There are days where I struggled, and there are days where I felt like I was just pounding the keys, or the keyboard on my phone if you will. But I haven’t officially done anything yet, but that milestone is within insight now. Of course, I’ve got to get through the next 31 days.

Coming up at 10:00 AM: Be sure to check back later this morning! I’m dropping my full review of the latest Daredevil: Born Again episode.
