What is one way you have grown this year?
I know I’ve talked about this journey extensively—from the 1,000-day mark to the deeper, broader narrative we explored in the podcast. But if I had to narrow down the growth of the last 365 days into a single theme, it would be the move from reflection to construction.
While the earlier days of this blog were about survival and understanding the wreckage, this past year has been about picking up the tools. Whether it’s the professional discipline required for a Principal’s license, the clarity found in setting hard boundaries, or the simple, unglamorous grit required to keep a 1,000-day streak alive, each step has been a conscious act of building.
Professional Clarity: I’m no longer just “thinking” about graduate school. I have identified the path to becoming a principal and recognized that I possess the temperament to do the job better than what I’ve seen. I’m building toward that office.
Personal Boundaries: My experience with Veronica was the final test of my “100% Policy.” Realizing I was hitting an emotional brick wall wasn’t a failure; it was data. It confirmed that I am no longer willing to settle for a “junior high” level of commitment. I am building a life that demands intentionality.
This isn’t the whole story—that’s a much larger project—but it is the current status report. The goal for the next 12 months is to keep the foundation firm, the boundaries clear, and the progress moving. I’m done waiting for the “right time.” I’m building, one day at a time.
Rebuilding a life takes grit, consistency, and a lot of ‘Option C’ thinking. Having crossed the 1,000-day milestone, I’m now charting the territory beyond. The mission remains the same: No glitz. Just the work. New to the blog? Start your journey here to see the blueprint and the ‘Tricorder’ perspective behind the rebuild.
