I did it

Happy holidays to all. And to those who celebrate it, Merry Christmas.

Today is Christmas Day and all the hours , days, weeks and in some cases, months, of preparation are all about to pay off. With days like this, one can prepare all they want; but ultimately the day will take on a life of its own.

Christmas Day is, historically a much slower paced day, once the excitement of Christmas morning wears off.

As a parent during the holidays I think I did pretty good this year. I am so incredibly fortunate to spend the holidays with both kid 1 and Kid 2. I know this won’t be the case next year. but most of all, I am so far-beyond-blessed that I have the means to provide a great Christmas for them both.

For me, the big make-it-or-break-it moment was when kids were still engaged with their presents even after they opened everything. I’m happy to say that they were. Kid 1 was busy setting up his new Bluetooth speaker. Kid 2 was busy playing with his new toys.

Now that the rush of the holiday has passed, I can feel my body relaxing- and I am exhausted! But my visit with the boys is not over yet. We have one more full day together. Then Friday, we hit the road. In the meantime, I’m gonna take a deep breath, and allow myself to channel Clark Griswold at the end of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation when he simply said “I did it “.

Merry Christmas! It’s a marathon not a sprint, isn’t it.

Ive seen both sons and their families over the holidays. Then they traveled to other family members, to spread the joy.

it’s been a difficult few years with loss of senior members leaving a big hole in the family, and illness to overcome.

    We got there.

Merry Christmas Pat! It definitely is a marathon; I know what you mean about losing some senior family members and seeing the way that the rest of us step up and assume certain roles.

There’s definitely a sense of “the changing of the guard”

I thought it would be a long time before it was us taking on that role. It came before we wanted it to.

      I’m sorry.

It’s funny because it’s something that you want to think about in the back of your head, and then suddenly one day it’s just thrust upon you.

I Hope you’re having a happy holiday, in spite of things being different this year.

Thank you, the family keep us on our toes.

I’m currently contemplating cleaning up a house full of glitter! Literally everywhere….

Enjoy the rest of the season.
