As WordPress continues to recycle old prompts, I pulled another prompt from The Coffee Monsterz Co to respond to today
What foods do you prefer quantity over quality, and what foods do you prefer quality over quantity?
I have never really been much of a “foodie”. So when I get these questions asking about my food, preferences, I don’t really know what to say. I’m growing up, I was a picky eater and a family of bland eaters. Even though, I still feel like there’s a lot of food that I’m trying for the first time.
My problem is the same problem that a lot of Americans have with their diets: portion size, or quantity over quality. Not only do we eat bad foods, we eat way too much of them. This 2023 Business Insider article does a great job of comparing fast food portions between the US and the UK. While this article compares portions between countries, the 2004 documentary Super Size Me shows the way McDonalds portion sizes have changed over the decades.
But in general, I can tell you that I prefer quality food over a large quantity of food. I probably eat cheap more often than that, but I don’t necessarily enjoy that. For instance, just last night eat a Smashburger and a place that I would probably consider more of the “steakhouse“. I really enjoyed the burger and I could tell that the meat was so much better quality than what you get in a typical fast food restaurant. So much so fat, that it bothered my stomach for a little while last night. I think recently my stomach has just gotten used to eating a lousy food.
One food where I am completely willing to cut corners with is pizza. I love pizza and just about all of its forms. I like a good quality pizza that’s made with fresh, hand- tossed bread fresh ingredients. Of course, I won’t turn down frozen pizza. I even like those really lousy cafeteria style greasy pizzas that we used to get his kids in school growing up. Pizza is definitely the one food. I have qualms about sacrificing quality. .
