More self-care time than I wanted

How do you make time for self-care?

The timing on this prompt could not have been more hauntingly ironic.

I have a lot more time for self-care than I expected right now. I got into a car accident Monday night. I’m not going to say too much about it right now because I’m still trying to process the whole thing. The accident happened sometime around 7:00 PM, and I only just got home from the ER around 1:00 AM on Tuesday morning.

And I cannot thank Sierra enough for being her. She made the 45-minute drive out to see me at the hospital. And she stayed with me in the ER until they released me. Well, then she drove me home too, of course.

I don’t believe in that mobster/Donald Trump style loyalty. But I would take a bullet for her. I would go to war for her, and alongside her. And I would set this entire world on fire for her.

I’ve been feeling for a while that there was going to be some kind of big test for us. Like something was going to happen. I honestly thought the next time I would’ve been in the hospital would’ve been for Mother. I did not have this on my 2026 bingo card.

Why do we fall down? So we can get back up again.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am the luckiest son of a bitch walking this earth. I’m just hoping The Old Man pulls a few favors upstairs for me on this one.

As for the blog, the streak is intact. Earlier Monday afternoon, I crossed 20,000 views for the year. I’ll be posting more about that later.

As for now, I’m going to go to bed, prepare for the most painful wake-up of my entire life, deal with the insurance company in the morning, and make sure I get my prescriptions filled.

This sucks. I’m gonna be dealing with the fallout from this for some time, I’m sure.

anybody hear any good jokes lately?

Thanks rojie! I’m feeling a lot better today. I just have to take care of some logistics with transportation, and I should be back to work tomorrow.
